Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install my tile house number sign?

See our step by step installation guide for mounting tile on different surfaces.

How do I care for my tile?

Wipe tile with a damp cloth to remove dust.

Is tile indestructible?

Almost! Fired at 2,000 degrees, tile can retain its vibrance for decades.

Tile art and signs are weatherproof, fade proof, and graffiti proof. If painted on, you can use Goo Gone to wipe off the paint.

Tile can crack if you drop it or drop something on it, so that's the thing to watch out for.

How do I care for the metal frame?

The frames are made of iron and are sealed but will eventually rust in some areas of the country. They are intended to weather with a surface rust!

In a coastal areas, be advised that rusting will happen quicker and a "living finish" is best because the salt-water air and conditions will play havoc with virtually any finish. A painted finish or even a powder-coated finish will eventually chip off.

These have been produced and installed this way for many years all over the country.

Now....there are some things that you can do to lessen or even eliminate the natural process IF you'd like but will require upkeep;

1) BEST: Good old fashioned Clear Johnson's Paste Wax. You can apply a coating on the metal. Light pressure fine steel wool can be used to remove any surface rust first. Or you can just apply over it. This is something that should be done a couple times/year.

2) GOOD: Paraffin Wax - Apply a coating of liquid paraffin wax onto the metal. This is something that should be done a couple times/year.

3) OK: Use Stainless Steel Spray Polish or Lemon Pledge. Spray onto a microfiber rag first and apply a thick coating onto the metal. These sprays have Silicone in them and will coat and protect the metal.
